Cryonics
Cryonics is a medical field in which human bodies which are suffering from some presently incurable condition are stored temporarily at extremely low temperatures in hopes of restoration and rectification in the far future. Cryonics has not been made possible even with the high level of knowledge in the field and all the technological advancements. The cryopreservation of humans still remains as irreversible with the existing knowledge. However, system is expected to take life any time soon in the future.
How does it work?
Even though the model is yet to be developed in to a fully acceptable and usable form, in some parts of the world, people have already started this practice. Around 200 human bodies are preserved and are expected to be able to be brought back to life in the future when medical filed have progressed considerably so as to repair the damages.
The main obstacle when it comes to cryonics is revival. That is, even if we were able to preserve these bodies in the most pristine state achievable, there are presently no suitable methods to bring life into these bodies. The fields of nanotechnology, biotechnology and nano-medicine are expected to solve this problem in the future. Revival would mean making repairs to damages due to lack of oxygen, thermal stress, frozen tissues and cryoprotectant toxicity. Such restorations would call for extensive tissue regeneration in many cases. Some scientists also propose a theory in which the human brain is electronically scanned into a computer and later implemented. But this also has many psychological and technological obstacles.
Final word
Cryonics is thus an important field of study for scientists worldwide and they seem to be getting closer and closer as time progresses. We never know what miracles the future would bring.
